WHAT IS REMEDIAL MASSAGE?

Remedial massage is the use of different techniques to treat muscular pain and function to help you in your everyday movement and if a sports person, to help you achieve your best

 

It is a form of treatment that is applied in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of treatment. Remedial Massage may help restore correct function and help in maintenance of your body. It can also help to relax overused or tired muscles.

WHAT DO REMEDIAL MASSAGE PRACTITIONERS DO?

Remedial Massage Practitioners listen and then assess a patient’s needs to reflect a positive outcome, then discuss a treatment plan. This is a two way process between the patient and therapist.

Treatment plans may include - 

  • Treatment of muscular pain and sports injuries

  • Soft tissue manipulation (hands on work on muscles)

  • Deep tissue massage 

  • Relaxation massage 

  • Thermal techniques - Heat packs help to release muscle

  • Myofascial release techniques-fascia surrounds the muscle this might need releasing

  • Stretch and strengthening exercises - these will be demonstrated by the therapist and the patient will be shown how to practice home techniques

  • Muscle targeted foam roller and spiky ball uses to release, at home, muscles after a long day or gym/sport training

  • Energy manipulation-Reiki healing techniques

  • Use of sports roller to self help muscle release
